Why insulate your attic?

Attic insulation (also called “entretoit”) helps prevent nearly 30% of your home’s heat from escaping through the roof during winter! Attic insulation also helps reduce humidity levels in the summer and prevents mold formation (when ventilation is adequate).

If you air-condition your home in the summer, you will also notice that the cool air does not escape through the roofing. This means savings on heating costs in winter as well as on cooling costs in summer.

Types of insulation

Our team insulates attics using either cellulose fiber insulation (R-value of 3.7 per inch) or spray polyurethane (R-value of 6 per inch). Both types of insulation include fire-retardant and rodent-resistant properties.

Cellulose fiber is made from recycled materials (100% natural and eco-friendly). It is blown in under pressure to fill every corner of your attic (approximately 3.5 pounds per cubic foot). Cellulose insulation is very airtight and also provides excellent soundproofing.

Spray polyurethane foam also fills all cavities in your attic, then expands and hardens. It is the most high-performance insulation on the market, offering strong resistance to cold air infiltration and mold.

Please note that our technicians must inspect your attic before agreeing to perform insulation work.

Ask about the attic insulation grant available through the LogisVert program.

Attic ventilation

To prevent humid air from accumulating in your attic and avoid mold formation, it is essential to have a properly functioning roof vent and ensure that ventilation soffits (located near the roof edges) are not blocked by insulation. The shingle manufacturer’s warranty will not be valid if your roofing is not properly ventilated.

Our team can install or replace your roof vent and verify that your soffits are clear. Our technicians can also install Styrovents, which keep insulation away from the soffits.
